Director of Project Management

The Director of Project Management in our Electrical division provides incredible value for our clients, ensuring positive experiences and successful partnerships while also having an eye for detail and an understanding of safety, quality, productivity, and financials. This candidate should have a long-standing background of experience (10 years or more) in plan-spec project management in the electrical contracting industry and enjoy diving in to run projects of at least $10 million. He or she will also thrive in the opportunity to mentor and develop a high-functioning team of Project Managers from entry to senior levels (guiding all aspects of the construction project life cycle, from pre-construction through post-construction, and ensuring adherence to I.B. Abel’s Project Delivery Process).

This is a telecommuting position with flexibility to work from any I.B. Abel office and from home, when appropriate. Some travel is necessary to customer job sites (about one to three per week), other offices or yard locations, and trips for training and offsite meetings. In support of a healthy team environment and overall project success, this candidate must be reliable and accessible for our team members and clients and committed to visiting jobsites and being interactive with direct reports. The best fit for this role will also have a heart for philanthropy, staying involved in the communities we serve.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop a team of Project Managers and Associate Project Managers in commercial electrical construction.
  • Maintain all reporting and performance indicators for Electrical Services and recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Work with owners, engineers, and/or subcontractors to resolve project problems to support Project Managers and further develop customer relationships.
  • Explore opportunities to establish new customers and business opportunities and assist leadership in expanding revenue.
  • Review prepared project status reports detailing cost variances on work to date and cost at completion and revenue projections.
