Company Legacy

The I.B. Abel, Inc. legacy started as I.B. Abel & Son in 1913. The company was founded by Israel B. Abel and his son, Norman E. Abel in York. What started as a small appliance sales and service company evolved to meet the rising demand for electricity thanks to the vision of this entrepreneurial father and son duo.

The first 20 years of I.B. Abel’s history saw the Great Depression, President Roosevelt’s New Deal, and World War II, all of which laid the foundation for a company whose name is synonymous with excellence. The company would change ownership for the first time when Robert Kinsley purchased I.B. Abel in 1980. The transition was seamless as two very similar cultures fused together. The Kinsley’s – another family deeply ingrained in the York community launched I.B. Abel into the 21st Century and continued the tradition of excellence by expanding the business and reputation nationally.
