The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and local NECA Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter recognized I.B. Abel for project excellence.

I.B. Abel is proud to win multiple 2024 Project Excellence Awards from the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and local NECA Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter in the Overhead Transmission category for our work on the West Shore Harrisburg River Crossing Transmission Line Rebuild.

Our professional crew’s work on the 1.2-mile transmission line repair and rebuild project highlights our specialized expertise and ability to navigate complex obstacles. As part of the project, we were required to work across the Susquehanna River and on islands near Harrisburg. To do so safely and effectively, our team built a 1,700-foot causeway to access Stucker Island and an 800-foot floating road to reach Hess Island. We also had to work across multiple railroads, which required diligent collaboration with the rail providers to ensure all safety and compliance guidelines were met. Our professional crews were responsible for removing various electrical assets, replacing a Load Break Air Brake switch, and installing a variety of overhead power line spans on nine new foundation steel monopole structures. Our team’s contributions to the project demonstrate our industry experience and ability to provide innovative solutions to the most complex challenges.

The Project Excellence Awards, led by NECA, evaluate industry-specific projects based on several factors including aesthetics, difficulty, and originality, among other criteria. Our project was one of 18 recognized across the United States by the association and one of 12 recognized by the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter.

“It is an honor to receive the 2024 Project Excellence Awards and be recognized for our work on the West Shore Harrisburg River Crossing Transmission Line Rebuild. The awards reflect our commitment to excellence and is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our entire team, who worked diligently to ensure the success of this complex and critical infrastructure project. By overcoming challenges and setting new standards for innovation and safety, we were able to achieve our clients’ project needs while delivering the highest level of quality and service.”
